OVERVIEW
Clark County Parks and Recreation Department’s Public Arts Office is seeking eight (8) artists who are interested in public art (but have not worked in the field before or have limited experience), to participate in a professional development and mentorship program. This project is open only to artist residents of Clark County, over the age of 18, who are not part-time or full-time Clark County employees or currently under contract for any Clark County Public Arts project larger than $50,000. Any artist that has participated in this program for the previous 3 years is not eligible.
Artists will be selected through a competitive process and will participate in training with the guidance of public art staff. Selected artists will create a concept and proposal for the project, lesson plan, and lead workshops with youth to create a temporary public sculpture at Clark County facilities. The goal is to create a professional and thoughtful traveling temporary public art installation with elements created by the children enrolled in the program. In return, the artist develops skills in workshop facilitation, community engagement, public art creation, collaboration, project management, and learns how to maintain artistic creativity and vision while attending to the demands of the public process.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Since 2018, the Youth Arts Education: Temporary Public Art Program has been actively organizing artist involvement. The program's dual purpose lies in educating both artists and youth about public art, while concurrently enriching the skill sets of the participating artists.

ABOUT THE FACILITIES
Clark County Parks and Recreation provides Southern Nevada with recreation and community centers, with a variety of amenities to provide recreational experiences for visitors and residents alike. Each recreation and community center has its own unique space and community. Our recreation and community center locations also extend to rural communities in Unincorporated Clark County.
This fiscal year, there will be sixteen (16) Clark County community and recreation centers participating in this program. Each center will have one artist facilitate a workshop with youth participation that includes their contribution to the temporary public art sculpture or installation. · Pros: shortened time between checks, can have both projects and workshops going at the same time and complete work for both sites and installs.

We are pleased to announce a call for art for our newest exhibition, Juneteenth: Freedom Moves, a group juried art exhibition at the Pearson Community Center Gallery. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, creativity, and cultural contributions of Black communities across generations. The day marks a historic moment of emancipation while also recognizing that freedom unfolds through time and continues through memory, cultural expression, and collective action. Today, Juneteenth is observed through gatherings, music, dance, storytelling, and art, each carrying forward a legacy of movement toward self-determination and possibility.
Freedom Moves invites artists to explore the many meanings of movement. Movement may appear through the body in dance, gesture, rhythm, and performance, or through communities organizing, migrating, gathering, and transforming the spaces they inhabit. Movement can also take shape through emotional and imaginative shifts, moments that move us, change us, and push us toward new ways of living together. The exhibition welcomes work that reflects the many ways freedom moves through bodies, histories, cultures, and futures. The exhibition will be juried by Brent Holmes.

OVERVIEW:
The SOLO SERIES Juried Exhibition open call provides four local, emerging, and under-recognized artists with an opportunity to present a solo exhibition at the Pearson Gallery for 8 weeks between August 2026 to May 2027. The selected artist will be installing and deinstalling their own solo exhibition, with the guidance of the gallery curator.
This call is for artists who have not yet shown their work in solo exhibitions, and a chance for community engagement in Las Vegas.
This is a paid educational opportunity for artists to learn about curatorial practices, be comfortable with public speaking, workshop facilitation, how to invoice, and promote themselves as an artist. Artists will be tasked with installing their exhibition with a curator’s guidance. Two payments of $300 will be made: the first payment will be given for the installation and provision of workshop details, while the second payment of $300 will be issued upon the completion and deinstallation of the exhibition.
In addition, each artist is required to teach a workshop in relation to their exhibit. The workshop gives the artist a chance to engage with the community by creating an art lesson based on the themes or mediums shown in the exhibition.
Each artist will be selected by a blind jury, consisting of members who have a connection to the Historic Westside community.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
- Open to artists ages 18 and up residing in Clark County, NV.
- All mediums are accepted, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, textiles, and mixed media; no replica prints will be accepted. Works created through generative artificial intelligence (AI art) shall not be accepted.
- All submissions must be received by Sunday, July 12, 2026, by 11:59 PM PST.
- A minimum of 8 pieces and a maximum of 10 pieces of art can be submitted. If submitting a sculpture, send images of multiple views.
- If chosen, artwork will be installed using grid walls and/or the use of a hanging system.
- All 2D flat work (on paper or similar) must be framed with a hanging point on the back. Canvas and larger 2D work must have D-rings, a wire, or an existing hanging point secured to the back, and be ready to hang. See our Rotunda + Pearson Gallery Guide for more details.
- A pedestal will be provided for selected three-dimensional works.
- Must be original artwork medium; digital art, photography, and printmaking are acceptable; no replica prints shall be accepted.
- Images included in applications must be of actual artwork, not conceptual images.

- Unable to attend the workshop? A video recording will be uploaded here after the workshop date.
HOW ARTISTS ARE SELECTED:
All eligible applications are reviewed by a juror through a blind review process. From this pool, a group of semifinalists is identified and further considered with input from Community Center staff. Selected semifinalists may be invited to participate in a short interview before final artists are chosen.
Four artists will be selected for solo exhibitions.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications are evaluated based on the following:
- Artistic Quality The strength, originality, and visual impact of the submitted work.
- Cohesion of Work How the submitted pieces function together as a unified body of work suitable for a solo exhibition.
- Exhibition Readiness The artist’s ability to present a complete and well-prepared exhibition, including properly finished and install-ready work.
- Concept and Clarity The clarity of the artist’s ideas and how effectively they are communicated through the work and supporting materials.
- Community Engagement The artist’s potential to connect with audiences through a public-facing workshop and exhibition programming.
- Alignment with Program Goals Preference is given to artists who have not yet had a solo exhibition and who would benefit from this opportunity as a step in their professional development.
