SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Sunday, July 20, 2025 @ 11:59 PM PST

Clark County Public Arts is proud to present Full on Fantasy! This is an exhibition about fantastic art — art that portrays mystical, magical, or mythical beings, events, and/or settings. You can find examples of fantastic art on the covers of Dungeons & Dragons game guides, within RPG video games, and even through the work of Hieronymus Bosch. Fantastic art is popularly comprised of Western cultural imaginations of fantasy, but we are looking for anything that explores the themes of magic and other worlds. We ask artists to create work that explores new lands, revisits mythologies, and is filled with esoteric magic.

Announcing our newest open call for art, Plantasia!

We’re excited to share a call for art, especially made for plant lovers! This exhibition draws inspiration from its eponym, Mother Earth’s Plantasia by Mort Garson. People have been fascinated by plants throughout the ages and have caused multiple plant crazes; the most recent one came from the COVID lockdowns of 2020. Plants are extensions of our environment, and many of us use them to keep our homes lively. Plants can be grown from seeds or other types of propagation too, but when life ends, they can also be composted to support new growth. Plants are integral to our world, but really, life in general and requires devotion and care. We ask artists to think about what it means to keep plants in pots or to create manicured gardens within boundaries. How do we view plants compared to other living beings? Plants are beautiful and we expect to see a lot of beautiful work done for this exhibition.

OVERVIEW:

The SOLO SERIES Juried Exhibition open call provides four local, emerging, and under-recognized artists with an opportunity to present a solo exhibition at the Pearson Gallery for 8 weeks between August 2025 to April 2026. The selected artist will be installing and deinstalling their own solo exhibition, with the guidance of the gallery curator.

This call is for artists who have not yet shown their work in solo exhibitions, and a chance for community engagement in Las Vegas.

This is a paid educational opportunity for artists to learn about curatorial practices, be comfortable with public speaking, workshop facilitation, how to invoice, and promote themselves as an artist. Artists will be tasked with installing their exhibition with a curator’s guidance. Two payments of $300 will be made: the first payment will be given for the installation and provision of workshop details, while the second payment of $300 will be issued upon the completion and deinstallation of the exhibition.

In addition, each artist is required to teach a workshop in relation to their exhibit. The workshop gives the artist a chance to engage with the community by creating an art lesson based on the themes or mediums shown in the exhibition.

Each artist will be selected by a blind jury, consisting of members who have a connection to the Historic Westside community.

Clark County Wetlands Park is seeking submissions for its 4th Annual Juried Exhibition, titled In the Company of Animals. This show celebrates the presence animals bring to the wetlands and other environments: their natural grace, wisdom, and connection to place. Whether capturing the patient stillness of a great blue heron or the quiet intelligence behind a coyote's gaze, this show invites artists to explore what animals teach us simply by being themselves. Artists are encouraged to examine their relationship with the animal world through direct observation, memory, or reimagined work. All traditional media are acceptable: drawing, painting, printmaking, fabric, photography, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, etc. Framed digital work will also qualify for this exhibition, but AI-assisted images are not allowed.

This opportunity is open to all Clark County residents aged 8 years or older. Artists may submit up to three works of art and will be notified via email regarding the status of their submission by Thursday, July 24. Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to Clark County Wetlands Park, 7050 Wetlands Park Lane, Las Vegas, NV, 89122, on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, July 29-31, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Juried by Sean Russell, who earned his M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2005 and has been a Professor at the College of Southern Nevada since 2008. At CSN, Russell teaches various art and art history courses as well as serves as the Program Coordinator for the Art Program. He has taken part in a variety of regional and national art exhibits and created numerous public art projects. Russell has been visiting the Clark County Wetlands Park for over 15 years, and the creatures of the Las Vegas Wash system are often subject matter in his artwork.
