CALL FOR ARTWORK: Pink Exhibition - Clark County Residents Only
Ends on
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Sunday, May 18, 2025 @ 11:59 PM PST
The Clark County Public Arts Office is excited to invite you to apply to their newest open call, Pink. This color was named after the flower, Dianthus plumarius, commonly known as a garden pink in 1566. Before that, it was a verb in a similar meaning to the word “wink” or “blink.” It has been associated with both young masculinity and femininity while also carrying the meanings of bravery, courage, resistance, violence, and power throughout its historically genderless existence. Pink comes in different shades, hues, and intensities. We invite artists to explore the weight that this color carries. Artworks, of any medium, should be predominantly pink in all its different iterations.
The exhibition will be juried by Lolita Develay, a painter and artist based in Las Vegas, Nevada, originally from Pearblossom, California. Develay is a painter and artist whose chromatic paintings are integrated with statements on access and social values. Develay's work embodies a dynamic blend of geographical influences, cultural intersections, and social consciousness. With themes of beauty, sexuality, race, and spirituality, Develay's work serves as a mirror to the complex state of American life. She received her MFA in Painting from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2014.
